The Legend of the Rose Tree dates back over a thousand years. It is said that during a shooting party, King Louis the Pious and his followers held a service in honor of the Virgin Mary amidst the forest. In the fervor of the moment, the church implements were accidentally left behind. After an extensive search, the followers discovered the sacred objects entwined within the thorny branches of a rose tree. Recognising this as a sign from the Virgin Mary, King Louis ordered the construction of a chapel on the very spot. This chapel eventually evolved into the magnificent Cathedral of Hildesheim, with the resilient rose tree still flourishing by its side. Fantastic condition and very collectable.
